I have never really had any interest in birds. . .until recently. Now I have become a Bird Geek--just check out this strange bird that showed up yesterday. It's a EASTERN TOWHEE (Pipilo erythrophthalmus), and like the BOAT-TAILED GRACKLE of March 24th, only the Florida Towhees have yellow eyes. Incidentally, the color of his back is called "rufous"....a fancy bird word for reddish".
